Salt Lake City is one of Utah's most popular ski areas since the 2002 Winter Olympics came to visit. Winter activities such as skiing and snowboarding are popular winter sports in the Wasatch Mountains East of Salt Lake City. People from all over the world have been trying to master their skills on the Olympic downhill courses located at Snowbasin

Snowbasin, although one of the oldest ski areas in the United States circa 1939, recently became world famous since hosting several events at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. For over 60 years Snowbasin was coveted mainly by those in the know and by local area powder seekers. That changed when two incredibly tough courses were set on the now famous Wildflower and Grizzly ski runs. On these runs America’s Bodie Miller gave an edge of the seat performance to capture the Alpine Combined silver medal. During these Olympics viewers from around the world got a chance to see the ski area’s groomed cruisers runs, steep chutes, high alpine bowls, deep-powder glades, and spectacular scenery.

Powder Mountain, also nestled high in the spectacular Wasatch Mountains offers over 4,000 acres of the finest skiing anywhere on the planet. Powder Mountain has 1,600 acres of groomed and powdered runs served by several chair lifts. There are over 1,200 acres of powder and tree skiing serviced by snow cat as well as 1,200 acres of backcountry powder skiing accessed by a shuttle service. Powder Mountain also offers a backcountry guided tour service on a reservation basis - when conditions permit.
